Saltlake stadium is another major attraction of kolkata. It is officially known as vivekananda yuba bharati krirangan. This stadium is a multi purpose stadium with seating capacity of 85000. It is located in bidhannagar kolkata. In fact it is the largest seating capacity stadium in india.  Before the renovation of saltlake stadium it has a seating capacity of 120000, and that time it is also the second largest football stadium in world. But after the renovation, it seating capacity is decreased. Prior to the construction and opening of Rungrado May Day Stadium in 1989, it was the largest football stadium in the world. The stadium hosted the final match of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, alongside hosting other matches of the tournament. 

For the preparation of world cup U -17, the stadium switch back to normal grass from artificial turf. The stadium is situated approximately 10 kilometres to the east of the Kolkata downtown. The roof is made of metal tubes and aluminum sheets and concrete. The stadium was inaugurated in January 1984. There are two electronic scoreboards and control rooms. There is illumination at night . There are special arrangements for TV broadcasting  this stadium has a nuque synthetic track for athletic meets. The main football arena is about 105m by 70m. It also houses electronics scoreboards, elevators, VIP enclosures, peripheral flood lighting arrangement from the roof-top, air-conditioned VIP restroom, conference hall and much more. This stadium has its own water arrangements and standby diesel generation sets. This stadium covers an area of about 76.40 acres.  This stadium lies in eastern metropolitan bypass and is located in sector 1 saltlake city. It is pretty much accessible to the road. The saltlake stadium host the home games of mohun bagan and east bengal who played the 1-league.

 On 2nd september, 2011, there was a friendly match between argentina and venezuela. This was the historic occasion of saltlake stadium, as this match feature argentina superstar lionel messi. The stadium hosted the first match of indian super league on 12 october 2014. The opening ceremony features from footballing world as well as from bollywood. Apart from football, the stadium also host important athletic events. It has hosted the SAF game in 1987, and various national athletic events in india. The stadium also host culture programs like like dance and music concerts. It also host the opening ceremony of ipl season 2013. The revamp of the stadium, formerly known as Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, which was taken up on February 1, 2015, cost the West Bengal government more than Rs 100 crore. Salt lake stadium is considered one of the nest Stadium all across the world and definitely the best in India. The grass out here is lush green. The stadium is mainly for Soccer.
